Oral History Association Of India

Identity Design
The Oral History Association of India (OHAI) was founded as a professional organization in 2013 in order to provide a means of networking, sharing and communication among those working with recording and interpreting oral history. OHAI was established with the aims of promoting the creation, collection, digitization, archiving and dissemination of oral history in India.
OHAI needed a clear identity to represent their objectives and measures. The identity needed to reflect their drive to conserve and promote oral history. The team at Kena conceptualized and created a unique logo inspired by the Banyan tree. The Banyan Tree is connotative of knowledge and constancy. In the logo, the intersection of its roots and branches symbolizes growth and the spread of enduring knowledge. The branches appear to be people reaching out towards more insights. The mnemonic also resembles a contemporary microphone that is representative of oral communication.
